Aircraft Spins Out of Control into Palm Fronds at Well-Known Southern California Shoreline
A helicopter soaring above a crowded coastal beach suddenly began spiraling out of control, finally losing altitude and crashing into a cluster of palm trees as spectators watched.
Videos posted online show the chopper starting to spin near the beach then descending near the border of the coast, where it ends up lodged among palm trees and a staircase adjacent to the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Update
Emergency responders said five persons were transported to a medical facility including a pair who were in the aircraft and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the crash on Saturday.
Three persons on the street were harmed. Information on their condition were still under review.
The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.
