Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday following the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic links to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would pose a possible hurdle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the former Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves board as they start the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a surprising appointment considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United player is currently unemployed meaning the club would not need to pay any compensation.
